Greg is the former head baseball coach at Gordon Lee High School. In his eight years at Gordon Lee, Greg's teams compiled a 154-94 record, won two region championships, made two state Final Fours and a Final Eight, and appeared in the state tournament all eight years. He was named the Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2006. Eighteen of Greg's former Gordon Lee players signed scholarships to play college baseball.

Greg played college baseball at Shorter College and still holds the school's career batting average record with an average of .413. He made All-Conference three times and All-District twice.

He has worked as an instructor at Clemson Baseball Camp for six years, is an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves, and has been giving hitting lessons since 1996.
